Anyone recently located a source for a MAP sensor for an '02 - hopefully under $75 or so?

I checked last week at Ontario Dodge (Oregon), and nearly fainted when they quoted $180...#@$%!

Gary,I sourced one out @ Cummins. Seems like it was around $80 or so. They did need the engine serial#. That was for a 98. 5 about a year ago. The dealer quote was similiar to what you found.

Thanks Bob - I'll try them, tho' the nearest Cummins shop is about 150 miles from here - maybe they take phone orders and will ship?

I also tried several online wholesalers - including "mopars4less.com" (who seem to be out of business, at least no connect to their website) - but most don't seem to list parts for the Cummins, only gas engines...

From D/C STAR FAQ:
Technicians are removing oil sensors and turbo boost sensors, often not knowing which is which. How do we properly identify the sensors on the BR/BE 24 Valve, Code ETC, Turbo Diesel? - Top
The 5012991AA Oil Pressure sensor is stamped 3348749.
The 5012991AB Oil Pressure sensor is stamped 3408428
The 5012801AA Turbo Boost sensor is stamped 3348747
The 5017791AA Turbo Boost sensor is stamped 3417030
Note: the sensors look the same, but the mating connectors are different.

I believe the 3417030 is the Cummins part number on your 5017791AA MAP (Turbo Boost) sensor. You can check Cummins part numbers at places like FreightLiner as well as Cummins-branded shops. Most will mail parts.

I have found allchryslerparts.com far superior to mopars4less.com.

Gary, did your map sensor go bad? If so, does it leave the truck undrivable? If it does, maybe this is a good part to keep as an extra in our spare parts bins in our toolboxes. .

Just wanted to say thanks again to you Thomas. You have helped me and alot of other members MANY times in the past years. .

Cummins Cal Pacific has a website and will ship phone orders. No problem

Still need one? I have a used, but good one in my toolbox. Replaced it with an 01 model to utilize mt TST box. PM me if interested.

Don't bother with rockauto, every part I have priced on there I have found cheaper elsewhere. They don't even list the MAP sensor any more, but when I checked a month ago it was $168. 00, $48. 95 at Cummins.
