On my 97 3500 I would like to put some more power out of it... but don't have the funds just yet for twin turbos and stuff. I have a Hybrid Turbo on it... . both sides are holset... HX 35 mated to a HX 40 and turned the pump up some but just doesn't make the power I would like to get. I am running about 300 HP and about 550 Ft-Lbs of torque. I have thought about taking the fuel plate out and adjusting timing. Can anybody help.

Put a bigger fuel plate in it. More fuel = more power bigger turbo dont work unless you got more fuel. More fuel means you need more air to keep egt's down. How did you turn the pump up some?

Thanks..... I took and moved the stock fuel plate some to increase the fuel going into the engine..... I have plans on getting a number 5 plate and 375 horse injectors when I get home what about setting the timing 15 degrees over will that do any thing and is that bad for the engine! Let me know!

Are you just estimating your hp - Tq, I think with your mods you may be discrediting your torque output.

As far as bumping up the timing, if you tick with 15* like you said, you shouldn't have to worry about damaging your engine.

yes I am estimating my horse power and toruqe rating... . I could have more possibly... . How exactly would I go about bumping the timing up any answers!

You just disconnect and plug the boost line going to it however I wouold go with an adjustable boost elbow so you can keep the boost under 35 psi anything over 35 psi on the hx35 is just hot air

edgeman

Did you slid the AFC cover forward any? That will help to fuel, and lay a black trail behind you.

Yes my AFC is all the way foward... . that is what you do when you turn the star washer isn't it... . I moved the Fuel plate foward to gain more fuel.

ok that sounds good... I can do that... . isn't there a special bit I need for those safety screws... or is there a diffrent method to do that!

If you slid the fuel plate forward the afc cover would have been removed already along with the one special screw. If not there is one special screw...

Next remove front passenger side AFC housing break off screw. NOTE: This screw is a factory break off screw with rounded head and no screw driver, allen head or TORX slot. Use a hand impact tool with a 6 inch long ¼” extension and a T15 TORX bit to remove this screw. A center punch may be required to start a hole in the center of this screw. Set the hand impact tool in the removal position (counter clockwise) and use light hammer taps on the impact tool to loosen this screw. Tap progressively harder on the impact tool until the screw loosens. This method of removal forms a TORX shape into the screw allowing it to be reinstalled later with the T15 TORX bit. In some cases the hole in the top of this screw is too large for the T15 bit thus use the T20 TORX bit. There is usually a lock washer and flat washer under each of these screws. OPTIONAL: A sharp chisel can be used to remove the break off screw by making a notch in the outside diameter of the head, then applying a tangential force with light blows to the chisel counterclockwise to remove the screw.

Like Kenny said. But you had to remove the cover the get to the plate. The cover has elongated slotted holes, just slid it forward and lock it down.

The star wheel is for fine tunning either go or no go and eliminating the smoke, if you want.

Now by foward you mean towards the front of the truck right just so I am getting this all acurate and not going to mess anything up!

Bosch P7100 pump information (collected) - Competition Diesel. Com - Bringing The BEST Together

Read all of this. . You will need to modify your AFC to get full rack travel. It will also give you a understanding on how it all works. If you just loosen your starwheel up and slide everything forward will you hinder spoolup and just lay down clouds of smoke to properly tune the pump will take a full day's worth of fine tuneing... . The idea is to make the most power with the least amt of smoke... . Like I said read it all... Good luck Wesley
