So I had a buddy in college that used one of the post forms from the yellow poles in front of walmart as his stack tip in his 89' dodge. My question to yall is what are some of your ideas for cheap stacks? do you think it is cheaper to buy a kit or find somebody to make it? what all can be used for a tip? let's see what we can come up with! oh and if I take the muffler of can I just re route the back part of the exhaust to in front of the rear tire!?

I read a post on here that someone had gone to a truck wrecking yard and pulled a stack off a semi there for about $20, you would just have to get it sized down to mate with the 4" pipe out of the resonator... so if you have any big truck wrecking yards around might want to look into that.
As far as sound goes it is all personal preferance, I think the sound is better straight through, no resonator, no muffler, gives a nice crisp ring to it ;)

Alright well I am gonna go to our local truck yard and see if I can find anything! Is there a disadvantage to this or is an 4in exhaust system a 4in exhaust system.

NAPA sells 5" aluminized pipe for like 11-12 bucks a foot. I wanted black stacks on one of my trucks, and couldn't bring myself to paint my chrome stacks so I got some, cut it into mitres and made a "smoke box" instead of an expensive Y pipe. Painted it all w/ VHT engine gloss black. Or just go with one if you like the single stack look. They can also order 6" but it's about double the cost...
