Next time state you are looking for the BEST price for the Fleet guard oil filters, it will help.
Oil changes and oil are two very, very personal subjects, whats perfectly fine for one is atrocious to the other. I personally do not feel like the guy that changes his oil every 3000 miles is throwing anything away, hes ridding the engine of dirty oil and replenishing it with clean oil, whats wrong with that? Nothing. If you feel comfortable changing your oil like that then go for it. I do not drive very much so I only change my oil twice a year, in the spring and fall. And in between the oil changes, I replace the filter every 1500 or so miles. I do this on all of our vehicles, diesel or gas, and I do use Amsoil on everything as well. I think keeping the oil clean is the most important single thing you can do, by changing the oil filters at short intervals I think it really helps. I am now in the process of adding a Dual BY-pass filtration system to my Dodge, that also incorporates a Pre-oiler for added protection during start-up. Seems the worst part of this type of set-up is where to mount the filter mount, the battery mount and alternator mount that are available by certain members, don't seem to be a very good choice. They just do not allow the user enough room to easily change filters, and access the engine. I found a spot on the right side behind the bumper to mount my filter mount, it is protected, in the air way for cooling, and is easy to access for filter changes. I just finished welding the mount today, so I will have some pictures of it later on this week. Maybe you might want to consider just such a filter for your truck as well?
