well my 2nd gauge in 2years has failed, and don't know why I did it but went out to purchase yet another 14. 99 water temp gauge from kragens'... the 1st one I wrote off to kinking the line... 2nd one, dunno... I replAced my carquest t stat as per bgilberts request. . put the cummins in and it only showed 140 or so until 2nd day it didn't hardly show abve 100 deg... I checked t stat install and it still failed. replaced gauge, problem solved. just an fyi for you cheap o gauge owners

I'm not sure how long my Autometer z-series mechanical water temp gauge has been in the truck. At least a year. If it dies, and I wanted another water temp gauge, more than likely not for a non-towing truck, I'd get an electric Isspro 240* gauge. No more fooling with trying to get the mechanical cable routed all the way out to the t-stat.

yes I would also do an electrical gage. I've always had gages and senders that are very accurate... and I do check them for accuracy from time to time.
