ISM mods?

bigger injectors...how to?

The good news, after getting locked out the other night, is that I got to play on the way to the city.

I was in a rush and was cruising along at 75-80 (four-lane 65mph limit) when this blue Chevy picks up his pace and stays in front of me. We roll up to near 90 and I sez otay--I kicked the Cummins right as we entered some rather mild curves and put several car-lengths on him quickly. The I back off and he rolls back up and blasts by. He slows back to 80 or so and I pull up on him REAL slow, letting him hit it first. He did about when I got to his rear bumper at 85-90 so I laid into it up to about 110 and he went backwards pretty fast. No match at all.

But he was happy to race, came up and waved and all. :D Not the mad and sulky type. :{

The other Chebbie was a few weeks ago on "my hill" (1. 8 miles to climb a curvy 500 feet-just over 5% grade) I saw him coming up hard where the extra lane starts and I was just a few lengths ahead of him. Anyhow, I stomped it and he never really got on my bumper or tried to pass, but he was close behind me. We topped the hill around 90. It was a red gas burner with a loud exhaust. I pulled over to chat, but he went on.

I've found some PSD guys to race, but they're out of my league right now. NOT FOR LONG.

I'm going to be downright obnoxious with fueling upgrades! :p ;)

Kinda fun to suprise people. In 1971, I took a nice stock '64 VW bug and we pulled the 40hp out and SQUEEZED in a '65 Porsche SC engine. This thing had big bore cyls that pushed it to 1750cc (1600 stock 102hp) and about 115hp. Until we got a header that fit the eng and tucked under the body, I cobbed in the Porsche header pipes into the stock,two chrome tipped muffler! The 40 hp had a lower ring and pinion that the later VWs and topped out at 105 mph. This thing would keep up with most good running V8s. You should have seen the looks that we got from guys as we were keeping up with them gear for gear. :eek: Chris

VW stories

While we're on flat engines. I saw a VW Vanagon in "VW & Porsche" magazine (years ago) that had a 930 (911 turbo) stuffed into it. They commented that it was fun to pass Corvettes, pulling a boat-uphill.

But I just don't find that as practical as a 500HP ISB. Heck they coulda had TWINS easy for what $$$ they had in that van.
