My check engine light came on over the weekend on my way camping towing my toy hauler. The truck still runs fine. I have a Quadzilla race box which was set in the 60 HP mode when the light went off. It set off code P0148, didn't see that code on the list of codes. What does it mean? Anyway to reset a check engine light once it throws a code, will it go out buy itself?

Thanks for any help guys!!

P0148 Fuel Delivery Error

Would that be to high fuel rail pressure? Could a dirty fuel filter cause this?

I assume it has to go to the dealer if the light will not reset itself after several runs.

Thanks for the help guys

Send a pm to "qzilla" and see if they have had that code come up before. Or give Quadzilla a call. It might be the box. If that's the case have them send you a new one and go some where and get the code cleared. If that doesn't work I would go to the dealer.

Most Auto Zones have loner code readers that will reset the code if it is not continuing to be thrown.

The code will clear itself after 40 consecutive warmup cycles if it doesn't reappear. When a code is set, a "freeze frame" set of data is captured and stored in the computer. This can be viewed with OBD software and might be of some help in diagnosing the problem in the future.

You *might* also have success clearing the code by disconnecting the batteries for an hour or so...

0148 is caused by the low pressure side of the CP3. Don't know why it happens, but I have seen it a few times. It does not seem to make any difference in how the truck performs and it goes out on its own? We have tried to figure out what it is exactly and we believe that it has to do with lower fuel pressures on the cp3 side for a long period of time?

If that's true, it's very very interesting. On the 2003 trucks P0148 is called "High Pressure Common Rail Checksum". One of the possible causes is insufficient lift pump flow.

The check engine light cleared itself after about 7 startup/shut down cycles. :D I"ll keep a close eye on it and hope it was a fluke thing. Truck never missed a beat and no other apparent issues.

I really appreciate all the response & help from everybody!!

Thanks again

Strictly speaking, the code is still there. A code scanner would still pull it up. But after several start cycles without a recurrance the computer shuts off the MIL.
