History:

Truck popped two engine codes about 5K miles ago, Both indicating my injector pump may have seen its better days. Unfortunately I can't remember the 2 codes. Thought it might be the Comp, so I replaced with a new one. (box only, not harness) Then all seemed ok for a while.

Recently, its been popping the 236 & 237 codes. First advice has been to disconnect the PE Comp to completely eliminate as a possible failure.

Question is, do either of these codes have any ties to the injector pump? My reason for asking is that I currently have immediate availability to a new "hotrod" VP44. . 2nd, my truck is a 98. 5. . bla bla bla

By the same token. . its not like I have that kind of cash waiting to be spend on an injector pump... but I don't feel like being towed, or breaking down on the road either.

Thoughts?

0236 and 0237 are both MAP sensor codes (one for voltage high, and one for voltage low). If disconnecting your box does not get rid of the problem, I would guess you need to replace the MAP sensor.

Map??

The 236 & 237 were what my map sensor was doing when it went TU on me. Replaced it and all was good. BTW the other thing it was doing was smoking like a frieght train with box on or off.

Makes sense

The smoke thing makes sense... Normally it doesn't create much smoke on level 1. But it was smoking at times like it was set at +3. I disconnected the Comp last night and tried to re-set the check engine light... but it wouldn't go away... so I think the MAP is toast. Hence it would appear ANOTHER sensor has bitten the dust on this truck. . Oh well, I guess I can't complain. .

Thanks,

MLS
