I have recently purchased this 92 D350 and I am working figuring out all of the bugs. Currently the ABS and brake lights come on about forty seconds after startup and they stay on. I have checked through all of the grounds and vacuum lines and they look to be good. The cruse control does not work and I was wondering if this could be a related problem. In my search for answers I found that the check engine light on the dash is not flashing on startup. The bulb is good but where should I look next and are these problems maybe related?

Brake and ABS lights, could be caused by the valve on the frame above the rear axle. Lots of guys (me included) have removed them and unplugged the control box. It's behind the glovebox. No lights, firmer pedal and better stopping power. The vacuum switch, less likely, is in the corner near the brake booster. That should only light up the "brake" light.

Cruise control, check the crank sensor on the front balancer. The connections corrode in the plug, or the wires get cut or beat up where they go down the front of the block.

Not sure on the "check engine" light.

Oh, welcome to TDR!

If you have a low vacuum condition, the brake and the antilock will illuminate.

The check engine will illuminate when you cycle the key. I don't remember if the check engine lamp wil show by simply starting... ... ... ... . ???????????? I havn't driven a diesel in some time and with fuel at 3. 50 I doubt I will be.

If you'd like, I will look in the manual and see what the key cycle is. You could try that simply to see if it will illiminate.

Bleed off all the vacuum and start the truck. You should show the brake and the antilock.

check out your charging system. when i first bought my truck, all the warning lights had wierd things going on. my charging system began to fail too. it all traced back to the ECM. the charging system and the lights seemed to be linked. just my thoughts.

Thanks for all the info. Even when I cycle the key on, off, on, off, on I do not get a check engine light. The charging system dose seem to be working and I have a tach hooked up to the crank sensor so that seems to be working.

If there is no relation of the abs to the cruise control I will disconnect the control from behind the glove box as I had done.

How do I check the ABS pump?

" I havn't driven a diesel in some time and with fuel at 3. 50 I doubt I will be. "

How sad is this, when I read "$3. 50" for Diesel I thought ,"wow, thats cheap. " I don't know if NY is the higest but $3. 75 was the last I saw.

Pete, I know there is an Indian diesel spot at Turningstone, is there one in Syracuse? Even the Tway has a good price compared to my area.

Joe, they are all around Oneida. The name is Sav-On. There is one right off the Thruway at 34, corner of rt13 and 31, Sherrill, Sylvan Beach, several in Oneida, 2 at rt31 and 365 (big truck and gas). I know I missed a bunch.

Are we done hijacking yet?
