So I get into my 2014 ram 3500 longhorn. I started it then the dash says brake light is out and then engine light turns on.

It turns out the third brake light bulb was bad. So I replaced it and now the engine light is still on. I have only started it twice since the new bulb. the brake light on the dash went out.

So did 2 things happen at once or doesn't it need to run a little bit for it to go out?

Thanks for you help
Bobby

I invested in code reader for that very reason. Not enough Info in your post to know. Once I had the check engine lightgo out on its own after a "hiccup". The other time I tried disconnecting the battery and letting it sit overnight. Trouble with these new trucks is they don't need electricity to remember.

And if you live in one of those happy states where a CEL will fail an emissions test - bam. Just wen through that with two trucks at work. CEL. One was a Brake circuit fault, the other was a water in fuel. (neither one a Dodge). Point being that since at least 2004, the CEL was not emissions related items only.
