Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) check engine light on

have an 02 with only 22k miles, have a edge EZ only, otherwise stock. How do you check for codes. The thing runs better than ever, no symptoms.

You on/off cycle the key 3 times to the intial run - not start -, on third time let rest and watch the odo turn into a basic code reader, ECM PCM then done.
