check engine light on

My check engine light came on two days ago checked my gas cap as I have a billet cover but that didn't help Tried to check codes by turning ignition switch on and off but no results am I going to have to take it to the dealer or is there a way fix it myself Any suggestions

I dont know for sure but i heard the key fob doesnt work on 2006. Good Luck

The key code puller on my 06' works, {build date June 06}. Switch on-off-on-off-on with in 5 sec.

I think the fuel cap code is only on the gassers.

I got a CEL a while back and immediately searched TDR posts for "check engine". Lots of good info in there, especially about nuisance indications. I was unable to pull a code with the ignition key. There was either no code or the the ignition key method does not work on mine (build date Mar06). The CEL did clear after 4 or 5 start and warm-up cycles, just like posts said. It has not been back, and I avoid the dealer if I can.

I've just gotten another of the "phantom" check engine lights, and it wouldnt give me a code this time. This would be the second time this has occured (not giving codes), and both time were on trips to Montana, and I suspect it has something to do with my high idle system. Last time, it cleared after the trip home (with the 5 key cycles). This time, its not going away. I pulled the XZillaraider tonight, to see if that might be triggering it.

Yeah, I know it works - but I also think that sometimes it trips the check engine light for other reasons that do not have a code associated with it.
