Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Check engine light/P1740

I have a '97 3500 12 Valve in California. The check engine light came on and the OBDII code says "P1740- 1 of 1 manufacturer contrl. transmission" Help! What does all that mean. There is no listing for that code in the Chilton manual.

P1740 = Torque converter control or OD Solenoid rationality error has been detected in either the TCC solenoid or overdrive solenoid systems.



I've seen this code before in aftermarket trannies, it doesn't go away. I assume this because of the non-stock transmission. Never have seen it with the check engine light though.
