My truck has been down with a transmission problem and I've been starting it each day to idle for a few minutes due to the cold - single digit temps. Yesterday while idling, the check engine light came on and I'm not sure why... engine seems to be running fine. Drained my H20 in fuel valve, checked the fuel pressure pre and post filter (not great - 11 @ idle but probably OK), checked various sensor connections, fluid levels, etc. and all looks OK. I couldn't recall how to check for codes - thought it was turning the key on/off 3 times or something like that but that didn't do anything.
Anybody got a "check engine" light procedure or protocol??
It's getting towed to the trans. shop tomorrow and seems to run fine - ran it today for several minutes checking things out. Wouldn't that be cool to have the guys fix the transmission, go for a test drive and get stranded cause the motor konks out... can't have the Dodge at the shop with an idiot light on.
Thanks as always - Doug Favor
