I have a strange problem, as soon as the temperature goes below 0 celcius (32F) the check engine light turn on and may stay on a long. When the weather goes warmer the light goes off.

I tried to have the code read by the dealer but whenever I went the light was off.

Any of you ever had this problem ? What could be the problem ?

Thanks

If you have a newer 24 valve, you can get the code # by cycling the key switch on and off three times (quickly). Even with the light off, the ECM will store the code that is turning the light on.

I have a 1999, 24v ISB with Automatic.

I cycled on-off 3 times quickly but did not get any light flashing. Which light should be flashing ?

Thanks

I tried again (many times) to get a code, but no luck. Nothing is displayed on my odometer. Never got the P done message (as per Bill H' post).

Last year I went to the dealer but the check light was off, but still they could not find any code stored in the ECM.

Could it be that this check light be a false one ?
