Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Bad oil

Just had some transmission work done at the dealer. Today noticed that the check engine light doesn't go out after the bulb check time period. It does however go out and stay out when the engine is started. I'm not sure if it was always like that or whether they set a code during the transmisson work. Two questions: (1) Is that the way it should work (not according to the Owner's Manual) and (2) How do I reset it? By disconnecting the batteries for 30 minutes?? Thanks!

You should be able to clear the code by removing the battery cables for just a few minutes. I have a 99 and have set the lock up code in my trans before and it always clears out if I remove the cables. But, my check engine light is one of the first to go out , way before I start the engine so I would recommend taking it back to the dealer since the problem came up after they had the truck. :)
