Hello Everyone:

I am a first time owner of a diesel truck. After replacing the stock upper air intake manifold (non egr valve). I am getting an error code # 68... egr problem. Is it possible to reprogram the pcm for a 49 state non egr equipped truck?

You should fill out your signature so we know what you are driving. If your truck is a CA EGR equipped truck I think you have to jumper one of the connections in the connector that goes to the EGR valve. Hopefully, someone who has one will chime in here. If you truck is a 49 state non-EGR valve truck then about the only thing that can cause a CEL is a generator problem.

Hi Joe:

I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4. I installed an air intake manifold(non EGR equipped) from a 1994 to help reduce the EGT. I have observed a 150 to 200 degrees drop in EGT.

From that I guess you have a CA truck. I can't really be much help because my truck does not have an EGR. I have read on this forum that the CEL is caused by a problem with the electrical part of the EGR system. In order to trick it you have to jumper the connector. You might want to search this forum and see what you can find about it. You could PM BPonci and see what he has to say.
