My check engine light came on. I put my Smart Jr on it and I have two error code

1) PO480 - "cooling fan control curcuit "

2) PO243 - " Wastegate Pressure control "

I am at a lost at were to start to figure out what is wrong. Resetting the errors did not help.

Thanks for suggestions

Joe

I will take a look

Thanks P-bar,

I will check and let you know if that fixes it. It's cold really cold here in PA so I might wait a day for a little warm up to work on the truck.

Thanks for a good idea on where to start

check the small wires going to the underside of the air conditioning compressor and the the waste gate . make sure sure they are not rubbing on anything. Your truck is in limp mode but still drivable.

Follow Up ; thanks for the good advise

It turned out the #6 fuse was blown.

I replaced it and it blew out again...

So I took a flash light and looked at all the wire around the AC unit. Could not find anything that look worn though, the wire is wrap slopply with electric tape.

Reset the code, put in a new fuse and started the truck...

And all seems well again.

I think I will cut some plastic wire covers and add them around the AC unit and hope that keeps the problem from coming back.

Thanks for the good advice

Back Again

OK I thought I had solved the problem. The only started the truck last time and when it did not give me a warning like I figure it was OK.

Well today I went to use the truck and the same problem is back.

I did notice this before, but now the fuse blows as soon as it is put in. It blows even if the engine is off.

I put the truck up on blocks so I would have room to work and looked over all the wiring but can't find any place were the wire is worn.

I take any advice you have, if I don't figure it out by Thursday I may have to take it into the shop.

Thanks Joe

try unplugging the a/c and the wastegate and see if that still blows. If it doesn't then plug them in one at a time and check the fuses

Follow up

Thanks for the help, it ended up being to cold to work outdoor so the truck ended up going to the Dodge Shop.

It turned out to be a faulty wastegate valve. New one on order and it is covered by the warrent. So all is happy here in PA

Thanks again
