Well, it finally happened to my truck. Driving my usual 15 minute ride to work on the 60 mph road surrounding the city. The chime dings, I look at the roof monitor but it says Normal. Looking down on the Dash and I have the Check Engine light. I have just under 39,000 miles on the truck. Calling the local Dealer they get me booked in two days later. I did restrict the use of the truck so I wouldn't damage anything else with the emission system on the truck.
The shop looked at it and got it fixed earlier than they said they would. They had to replace a bad Exhaust Diff Pres Sensor and update the ECM. Total cost to me, 3 zeros with a decimal point.
Am I happy with the service and repair of the truck by Dodge... YES. They did what they said they would and got me back on the road faster than I expected.
I have read about what some have done to help improve performance and mileage. I have to say, I do like walking into the garage after the truck has fired up and run on one of our -30c nights and no diesel odor in the garage at all. The wife doesn't even notice any odor.
I have thought about the possible better fuel mileage but have looked back at what I drove before I had the 3500. It was a 350 gaser that was slightly 1/2 the weight over all and didn't have 4x4 or four doors. The fuel mileage the 3500 Dually is giving me is still 3mpg better than what I drove before with 1/2 the truck.
With the service I have been receiving from Dodge has me happy I went the Cummins route. The 6. 7 has all the torque I need without any upgrades and the clean emissions keeps the wife happy also.
