Hello everyone,

The good news:
I just purchased a 2008 Didge Ram 2500 yesterday!
The bad news:
Lastnight while making the 1100 mile drive home my check engine light came on. Nothing obvious seemed wrong so I continued to make my way to the next town. I checked the codes this morning and got the following info:

P0471
P0472
P2509
P2563

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Note that the EGR services was allegedly performed 700 miles ago. Also, the CEL came on just after I refilled the diesel tank.

Kindest regards,

GCP

The biggest one listed is 2509 - ecm power intermittent
Somehow somewhere the ecm isn't getting power and this code "can" cause other ghost codes to pop up. You need to check, clean and apply dielectric grease to all your ground and power connections from the alternator to the ecm (and everything in between), all your grounds from the batteries to the ecm and grounding points.
That's the easy part. There could be a bad wire or connector causing this but the above is a good place to start.

FYI, the 471\472 codes are for the exhaust pressure sensor indication low or fault. Its common for the tube or housing orifices to plug. Cleaning these usually cures this if it's not a ghost codes. It could also be a response to the 2563 code.
Iirc the 2563 code is a turbo code but could be a ghost code from the power issue, a result of the 471\472 code above or could indicate an issue with the turbo.

So clean the connections and see if the power supply code stays clear. If so and the others come back then you need to progress with the sensor\tube cleaning and possibly a new turbo.

p2509 is normaly a battery issue, usually one has failed
p0471 remove the pressure sensor #1 while running you should feel some exhaust flow if not the small passage to the sensor will need to be cleaned
P2563 has to do with diminished travel of the variable vane travel, sometimes cleaning will sufice, usually will end up requiring turbo replacement

Update

I do like the depth of knowledge available on this website. I stoped at a Dodge dealer in Riverdale, Utah and they were quite good about getting me in and checking the truck with no delay. Like Bob, suggested the exhaust pressure sensor port was blocked. The diesel tech cleaned the port of all the soot or carbon obstructions and had me back on the road in under an hour. 900 miles and counting with no return of the DTCs.

The tech felt confident that all four codes could easily be related and caused by a single point of failure. What do you guys think?

Thanks again,

GCP
