Hello Guys-

I'm kinda new here, but I've already learned a lot!

This is my first post - hope it's an easy one for all you experts out there...

While driving in my pasture last night, my "check engine" light came on when I restarted after about a 30 minute shutdown. Nothing unusual happened - pasture is dry and not too rough, didn't tear anything loose(happened before!), cranked right up and is running normally. Truck has 81K miles and the engine has never had any work other than routine maintenance.

Is there any easy checks I can do in my driveway before heading out for some computer diagnostics?

Tim

I believe with a 99 you turn the ignition:

On-off-on-off-on while holding the trip meter button on the odometer. If it doesn't work while holding the button, release the button and try the ignition sequence again. The fault code should display in the odometer window.

Hope this helps.
