My ABS light came on and the BRAKE light came on dim. So, I decided to take it into the dealer to get it looked at, since it deals with the brakes.

The solution was that the ABS fuse had blown, and it cost me around $100 before I got home. They found no problem and assume that one of my trailers has a short and caused the problem.

My advise is to check your ABS fuse before doing anything else if the light comes on and won't go out.

I haven't hooked up to the trailer again to verify if it is really the problem.

What does it mean if those lights just come on intermittently when cold? As I descend from the hilly area I live in when it's below freezing, the ABS and Brake lights come on for just a few seconds. Boost seems to be weaker at that time too.

I cannot replicate this for service once the truck is warm or if driven on the flatland.

Intermittent ABS light

Kodiak,

Your problem may be low vacuum when cold. Possibly water has collected in a low spot in your vacuum hoses. This could cause enough restriction that the small leaks in the system cause reduced vacuum to the brake system until the ice melts. This would explain why the dealer can't find the problem. By the time you drive it in there is no problem.

It's worth a look.
