After adding up the things I needed to fix before I could rely on my 1st Gen '93 W250 I decided it was time to replace it. I found pretty much the same truck, updated to 2006 technology, at my local dealers and was able to buy it. I love the truck, though I must admit that I miss the raw diesel roar of my '93. Last week, with somewhat less than 300 miles on the odometer my "check gauges light" (little engine symbol) stayed on. The dealership's service department said it was input from a battery sensor to the ECM and was a known problem with an ECM reflash fix. They reflashed the ECM. All was well until yesterday when the full time check gauges light reappeared. I took it into the service department again, they reflashed it and this afternoon all was well. The service department did not seem to feel that the problem is fixed, and I sure don't. Has anyone else experienced such a repetitive problem with their 2006? The specs on mine are: 4WD standard cab 2500 with auto, and of course diesel.

I have an '03 3500 w/67K miles. At various time the check gauges light flickers on on then off. Everything appears to be normal. Asked service dept, said without it on steady to hard to isolate any problem. Possible that there is a short in the light? Anyone with any experience with this problem? Thanks.

For 03's there is a TSB for erronious lights on the cluster, the cluster needs to be reflashed at the dealer. I had random flashings of SES, Check Gauges, and Trans Temp (mines a manual, go figure) and had it reflashed and it's fixed. I did however get a real "check gauges" light a few weeks back that dinged and stayed on for 5 minutes but the gauges were fine...

What did you do with your 93???

Did you sell it? If so how much is one worth these days? Ken Irwin

The '93 remains; this is quite a departure from the original subject and I don't want to abuse my posting privledges, so I'll start a new thread, "Reply to Kirwin" and answer your question more fully.
