Sorry don't know how to trans the URL here. Just use Cummins oil vent as a search at E-bay. Looks like a neat and simple set up.

I installed the Fleetguard Enviroguard about 1 month ago & have no more mess. It is a bit pricey, but should be a permanent fix for a royal pain in the @##!

it looks like the oil would sit in the hose that goes to the oil cap on the valve cover and fill the tube to the point that it would not breathe at all, just IMO

Looks like that breather filter would rattle out of the filler cap too easy, there's not enough protrusion for a good friction fit. Plus, silver soldering a stainless clamp is not a good idea for a strong bond, it will hold if there is no vibration or hard contact, but it should be welded.

I don't see why this is such a big deal. I just spent maybe $10 and extended it with a heater hose. It doesn't leak hardly any at all and there is no more mess in the engine bay.

Hi folks, guess I should tell ya, I came up with the kit after reading every thing here on this spill bottle subject.

My back ground is GM Auto body Tech, '81' grad of Penn. Gunsmithing school, Shop gunsmith for Auto Ordnance Corp. , 17 years Custom Gunsmithing/Dealer.

Almost everything I own has been custom fabed for greater efficientcy in one way or another. I happen to be a Diesel Fanatic. I'v owned the 7. 3, 6. 5 and now the 01 CTD in addition to my old Mass F. John Deer and 8KW gen set which are all Diesels. Clearly, the Cummins is good old fassion American Hardware the likes of which is nearly extinct from the domestic consumer market.

CEpp, Sorry, but I don't have a clue as to how oil will "back up" in a vertical line. The kit was designed with precut hose lengths that create a "Flat Spot" free run of hose from begining to end, except for the hi point which is the Tee. I was actualy more concerned with water vapor freeze so I intentionaly ran the hose near the engine and finished near the exhaust down pipe. I get about a teaspoon of water per week out of the spill bottle already and it hasent been all that cold yet here in NY.

BTowler, you know, it just so happens that I had the same concern about the fume filter poping out from the shear volume of vibration these good ol long strokes produce. So the barb on vent filter in the photo has a 3 degree inverted taper on it. Even tho the one in the photo has not migrated out of the seat in nearly 1000 K, The kit filter barbs have a lathe turned rib on them to absolutely insure a NON shake loose fit. As for the silver soldered stainless clamp on a steel bracket? I'v silver soldered rifle sights on hi powered rifle and shotgun barrels more times than I care to think about aside from numerous other similar projects for over 24 years. And your comment would have merit If the joint was not preped properly OR the spill bottle had any substancial weight to it. Just so people do not confuse silver soldering with SOFT soldering, to flow the silver solder you have use heat in excess of 3000 degrees F. ( metal will be ORANGE hot). Soft solder flows at a mear 275 degrees F. Believe me, if there was even the SLIGHTEST possibility of the clamp separating, it would NOT be part of this kit.

None the less, I thank you All for your comments.

You guys make TDR #1 .

Walt..... I may have done some of it differantly..... but then again I have just let mine breath all over the front of the engine and radiator. You took the time to address it and it looks like a good kit to me. Do you plan to sell them on here or just e-bay. Jake

Jake, Now that you mention it, the classifyed's here would be a possibility if there is enough interest in the kits. The E-bay add will show if it's worth my time to make up 10 or twenty kits at a time. At that point I could offer them as a open add to members (with a possibility of a better price) so I could handle mulitiple sales at a time. Time will tell ! Thank you for your interest and comment.

Walt

Just to let you guys know I'v relisted the kit with a better description and photo of the mods to the parts. It's a bit involved to make these up.

Be Well
