Shutoff solenoid VW TDI question

This web album is EXCELLENT for examples of things that destroy diesel engines as well as problems with the 6. 0. The pics of the engine destroyed by a faulty air intake scared me!!!!

Man! You gotta feel for "some" of these guys. They spend large dollars for these things. What gets me is the whole loyoalty thing with Ford? The one guy was on his 3rd or 4th 6. 0? That is total INSANITY! Heck, it takes all of 15 minutes on a good search engine to figure out that there are SERIOUS problems with the 6. 0. Yet they continue to buy because it ain't a Dodge or GM, it's a Ford. Again, total insanity. How do some of these guys even make it through the day? I wonder what, or how they think? Three legged gerbil on a rusty wheel in there? Ford people have always amazed me, some university should do a neurological study, would make for some interesting reading.

I don't understand, I guess I am just wired different, thank God!

But you have to remember the commercial that shows them putting 5800lbs in the bed for 1 sec. Then there's the one pulling 19000k backwards, oh wait you don't see it actually pulling it just getting the weights together. At the end they actually ask "Who's your daddy now". :-laf . Don't forget they say they have more power and torque than Cummins. Man the bs never stops flying does it

You can get a Cummins in a Ford. See fordcummins.com . The Ford owns Cummins is just a bunch of Ford salesman baloney. The Cummins web site says they don't. That crazy tale just won't die. Ford owned about 10% of Cummins stock until Jan '97. They sold their stock to Cummins at that time.

that rumour just will not die. Well, Cummins owns Detroit Diesel, maybe we should start the rumour that Cummins owns Ford. Whaddaya think?

There is a belief among many who proclaim themselves "car guys" that no matter how untrue a belief is, if you've held it for a long time that automatically makes it absolute fact, and thereby completely immune to all proof and logical arguments.

I learned quickly as a young man that when you encounter this variety of people it's really best to just nod and say things like "yeah, that's true" and "that's a good point" or "I didn't know that... interesting". Then come to places like this and laugh about it with your friends. :-laf

Wonder how loyal these folks are going to be in the future??????

The answer is totally 100% loyal. Its just the way they are. I am a ford man. But will drive anything thats reliable. I bought a dodge because ford discontinued the 300.

When you read about a guy on his 4th truck. You know they are insane. I love fords but one lemon and Im moving on to greener pastures. My last ford saw too much shop time so I was very pleased with my 98. 5 cummins powered dodge. Ford sure has a lot of people buying into their line of crud. All manufacturers have one. Just amazing that so many people will blindly follow. The word fanaticism comes to mind.

Give me quality or give me death.

P. S. Im driving a ford right now. A chevy for work. I think all three are pretty darn good. This loyalty stuff makes no sense.

I'm like you Big Daddy, once upon a time I was only a Ford guy, but still envied the Cummins owners. I bought a 6. 9 and still wanted a PSD. After many problems with my 6. 9 (not lemon really, just old and not maintained properly before I bought her) I decided to try the Cummins. Sure, there are a few problems with my Cummins, but it's normal wear and tear. I expect problems with a truck after many miles. My 86 6. 9L had close to 300,000 on her and my 99 Cummins has 125,000. Something ordinary goes out, breaks, of course. But these guys with BRAND SPANKING NEW trucks and stuff breaks before they hit 10,000 miles. It's pathetic. Guys jumping for joy cause there truck made it to 20,000 miles with only one problem, guys on their 3rd truck and it's doing the same thing that made them take their 1st and 2nd trucks back. Ahhh!

To the arrogant chuckleheads who felt it necessary to give a new member a wagonload of infantile attitude... BLOW IT OUT YOUR IGNORANT *****. I was simply looking for an simple answer to a rumor that made no sense to me at all.

It is also my understanding that DaimlerChrysler, not Cummins, owns DetroitDiesel, as was stated above. I hope to god they don't, or at least that Dodge doesn't try to put a DD or a MB into the Rams.

Joe G. , thank you for the link to fordcummins.com

Whoa buddy. Its just something weve heard half a million times. The jabs were all in good fun. Like ford boys jab the cummins boys and vice versa. No harm no foul. If you take us, or yourself, too seriously. You will not enjoy your time here. We come here to have fun and learn.
