Check your cab mounts. I have discovered mine to be cracked in half. I talked with somone about this in a body shop and found out that this is a dodge problem. They call it a silent re-call, but every dealer i go to to discuss this problem with them they turn their backs and walk away. They dont want to discuss the subject. I have checked all of my friends trucks and they all have one or more broken cab mounts. It is not the rubber mount that is broken but the cab mounting bracket itself.

If anyone has this problem please let me know because i dont know what to do about it.

So far have found this problem on my 1995 2500hd ctd and on 1996, 1997,. I found this out when a friend of mine was complaining that his windshield and rear window where making noise and he came over to my house and we went for a ride and just going down the road the front windshield blew out. Nice right? looking at the cab mounts we found the steel mount itself and the sheetmetal around it was cracked. We looked at mine and found the same thing but only on the passenger side.

re: cab mounts

Checked mine after reading your post. Easy to find - four brackets under cab attached to frame with rubber shocks. No problem! Everything looked ok - welds, bracket forms and attachment points.

Hmm, interesting. I've been hearing a lot of strange noises around my windshield also, and the cab seems to flex when driving over very uneven surfaces. I have taken my truck down some really brutal roads a few times which probably didn't help. I just attributed it to typical pickup truck frame flex. I will have to crawl under there and have a look for myself!

I had the same problem on my '95. I had a noise or actually more

of a clunk in the right floorboard you could feel underfoot. I thought it was a shock mount rattling but it turned out that the

cab mount had partially broken away from the floor. The spot

welds let go. I just pulled up the carpet and ran a few 1/4" bolts

through the broken welds. All quiet now.

The only thing that gave it away was a little crack in the mud

underneath which I finally noticed after going on mad hunt for the

noise.

That's scary, a lot of aftermarket step bar kits utilize those cab mounts for mounting points for the bars, with longer bolts. I've often wondered about the safety of that.
