Tires???

I found a buldge and what looked like dry rot on my pass. front tire the other day. It was right up next to the bead and was certainly going to blow. The tires had a good 10,000 left on the tread.

Knowing what I know about Good Year tires, I went and ordered a set of Generals.

As they were taking them off, we found the drivers side tire was actuly torn from buldge on the inside. I dont even know how it was holding air. There were four complete separations in the sidewall of the tire.

No this is not a low air or curbing issue, I inspect my truck religiously every two weeks, but I have never checked the inside of my tires.

Please check these tires if you were lucky enough to get them on your new truck.

I thank God, that I did'nt find out coming up Rt. 64 with my family and the 5er last month.

B... ... ... . :(

I also noticed the same thing on mine, only on the fronts. Originally I noticed cracks near the beads. Changed them just in time. Will michelin ever come out with a compatible tire?

Michelin has a tire now (but availability is EXTEREMLY limited still) All six of my GSA's were cracking all around the sidewalls (on one you could stick a business card 1/4" into the sidewall cracks. I, too, got a set of Generals (AmeriTrac TR's), but I had to wait 28 days to get them. Nothing else was available at the time (everything was back ordered). My local dealer was willing to replace the Goodyears (prorated), but it would have cost me $100 more than the Generals.

My Goodyears had about 1/4" of tread life left.

Glad I didn't lose a tire, too.
