Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Check your throttle (APPS) cable

My sons 02 was having trouble and we wanted to verify the APPS. So we took the APPS off of my truck. It was a good thing, look at my throttle cable.

Same thing happened to my '95 and they redesigned the bracket that it attached to on the replacement.



What do you see causing this fray? Was it binding?

Not a clue, nothing seemed wrong.

Was going to adjust mine this weekend. Seems like a little graphite is in order.



I'd trim off the fray, seal the end with some JB weld, and drive it some more if I were you.



On my '95 I drove for three days with a string running through the firewall. It was an auto, and I only got about 50 miles/string before it broke. :-laf

I wonder what mine looks like. The pedal has been feeling funny the past few weeks. It's "notchy" and with the truck off I can hear it squeaking. This isn't something that the Cummins or extended warranty will cover, is it?
