PC gone to far - Long AP post -NYFD

A friend of mine just picked up a new VW Jetta TDi automatic. It's black, cloth int, well opted, and seems like a real nice car. I did not ride in it or drive it, but I did hear it pull into the driveway and idle with the hood up, it sounds good. The EPA ratings are in the 40's. This guy is really going to rack up some mileage due to a long commute, I think He made a good choice. He had owned an old Rabbit diesel, and was very impressed with the power of the TDi.

I have one and love it. Getting about 40-45 mpg combined city/highway, with the auto. Nice engineered car to. Not only does the drivers window have an auto down feature, but so does the passengers, and get this - they both have an auto up. If there's any pressure against the top of the window when going up (ala an arm in the way), the window reverses. The car is great. The only problem with them, is it needs a timing belt at 40,000 miles. The replacement is good for 80,000 miles though.

power!

Check out the torque curves... . the little TDI motor has the same torque as the VR6... . and unlike the VR6, the TDI motor can be modified to make power! (saw a VR6 motor with $9000 in PARTS bolted on it, and it made about 215hp!!LOL) . Tell your buddy about fueling boxes, etc. . and his mileage will go up as well as the power!

I used to work with a couple of people that had the Jetta TDI. I agree that it is a great car. Both were 5 speeds and were getting around 42MPG in town and over 50MPG on the highway in warm weather. Power is good without any bombs too, they run really nicely. I would love to have one to beat around in. Resale value is also excellent, or I would have one.
