Rifle Scope Advice Please!

happy Birthday thekidfan

I had some time to kill, so I went to the local hummer dealer to look at the Hummers. I like the H1 the best (duh) and it was a great looking truck in flame red. The drivers compartment was a little cramped once the door was closed, but I would love to drive this thing around. There isnt really anything I didnt like about this truck with the exception of the cramped compartment.

Per the dealer, the H2 will do 80% of what the H1 will do. The interior was much roomier and as nice as the H1. This would be much more comfortable in daily driving.

What I dont like about the H2, and will never own one are because of the following

1. You can only get a gas engine

2. For the most part its GM parts taken off other vehicles/

3. Its made by GM

4. Its a GM

5. Its a GM

My mom has a H2 and absolutley loves it. When she got it, I bought her 02 Suburban from her for my wife to drive and she loves it as well. The 02 was my moms 3rd Suburban and she never had a problem with any of them. If I was looking for a gasser I wouldn't have any problems buying a GM.

I have been in the market for a new SUV for the wife for a while. I drove an H2 about two months ago and while it was nice, I don't think it is worth the $60K they want for em. I really did not fit in the H2 any better than the surb or YukonXL as they are all the same in my book. The one thing I did not like about the H2 is the two air vents on the dash... they look like they should have pasties on them if you get my drift. :D

The thing I hate about the H2 is the windshield... . it is too short, I'm 6'2" so I guess if I was about 8" lower it would be OK. I seriously like my ram better! Plus I have a Cummins and they have a caddy motor.

Everyone talks about how big the H2 is, but if you park it next to a Suburban, they're almost identical in size. The H2 is shorter (same wheelbase as the Tahoe/Yukon). Even next to my dad's 1/2 ton Dodge it doesn't look that big.

That's funny the salesman told me they are on an escalade chasis and have the same motor as the escalade... . who know's maybe it's the same as the suburban, too... .

Does anyone know what diesel motor powers the big Hummer ?

So, not a big fan of GM there, eh JC? LOL :D

I have to admit that I like the looks of the Hummer. A Hummer with a Cummins would be enough to look past the GM thing for me. That could very well be the ultimate testosterone wagon. :D The size and look of it with a Cummins plant would be very attractive.

I believe it is the 6. 2 or 6. 5. Dunno if they started putting the Dmax in them or not. A friend bought one of the first Hummers when they became available to the public. It had the 6. 2. While I was checking it out, he explained about the two hooks sticking through the hood. They are there to attach a parachute for kicking the beast out of a C130 and the company spent x amount of bucks to figure the best hook placement so the rig would land correctly and all. Dang, a million bucks for hook placement recearch and no budget for the proper engine. Go figure.

Isuzu diesel ???

Guys... don't bicker on chassis etc... . GM calls it a N259(06) a 3/4 suburban is also a 259(06), but it's a K259(06) seat parts are same part # as tahoe, rear is externally a 3/4 sub. housing, frt. suspension looks like suburban. The motor is I believe the 345hp 6. 0, same as silverado SS, escalade etc...

The H1 has the 6. 5. They do not use the DuraMax in the H1. I rode in one of Rod Hall's race-prepped H1's at May Madness a few years ago. It had a seriously beefed up 6. 5 diesel and ran very well. Rod has done very racing with that motor. I still don't want one. I'd like to find a surplus military Hummer and put a Cummins in it. Then it can be used properly without worrying about getting the carpet dirty.

John, didn't you spend enough time riding in those OD green H1's? :)

What ever happened to the guy (Hadi?) in Austin who claimed to have put a Cummins in a Hummer?

They are also there so that we can sling load them around with Blackhawk helicopter's and 2 of them with a Chinook. I got my fill driving the green ones.

Escalade (depending on model) = Tahoe, Suburban or Avalanche sold for a lot more $$$$$. They use the Chevy SB2 6. 0 liter gas engine.

The H1 is powered by the old 6. 5L GM diesel, I believe. :(

(For 2004), the standard 6. 5-liter diesel engine was retuned to produce more power while keeping noise levels down. With 205 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, the Hummer has more than enough power to tackle the most difficult terrain with ease.

The current engine in the H1 is the 6. 5L Turbo Diesel. As I understand it, AMG (the company that makes the H1 Hummer) has updated the block so it is a LOT better than the GM version.

Bill. Yes I have had enough time in the Green ones, but I like the cushy seats, AC, and Stereo in the civilian models :)

Jeff. . If you do a search on E-Bay for a Hummer, you can find military Hummers pretty cheap. The only issue is the transmission does not have an OD, so max speed is around 65 to 70 MPH. Plus they are so loud you cant hear yourself think.

There is one guy in the Austin area that has a Duramax in a Hummer. The conversion cost around 23 grand per the dealer that services the H1.

The H2's have the same ECM/PCM as the Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/Yukon XL/Escalade/Silverado-1500-2500 (non-HD's)

They are all the same. It's the same Part # on a SuperChips Programmer. Which tells me, they all have the same,, or very similar ECM/PCM's

I am pretty sure the ECM's are the same physically, but there's almost no way they are the same software. A 6. 0 silverado (Non-SS) is only 300hp, an escalade, silverado SS etc is 345 hp... the motors are identical so it almost has to be software
