Checking codes on 06

Does the key on and off thing work on an 06??? Not having any troubles but would like to get the codes if I ever do. On my 04 it worked perfectly. Does the o6 use the same method??

Doesn't work on mine no matter what I try. I broke down and bought an Actron Code reader. $199. 00 at Auto Zone.

mine works on my 06 no problems heck the guy at the dealer even did it to check the codes before he instsalled the high idle feature to check with the scan tool .

Works on my 2006 as well. Pulled the intake temp sensor code with it when my check engine light came on this winter.

For those of us a little behind the diesel power curve; how does one do this?

All you have to do is turn your key on and off, on and off, 3x w/o starting and then the codes will show in the Digital display ( Odometer). I just tried mine again... No worky!!! It worked on my 04 though!!

Mine works, though the dealer said that 06's don't do that. I think EARLY model year trucks might, and then it was changed maybe? Mine is a late 05 build. I also don't know if all codes will show.

'07 works.

I just tried mine on the '07 and indeed it works. Flashed done upon completion. Kinda nice not having CEL and everpresent codes like my '99 did being a CA vehicle w/DTT,smart controller and exhaust brake.
