I bought a 99 3500 sport 4x4 dually 5sp. Went to check to see if there were any codes by turning ignition on and off three times but nothing. The odometer did not even blink? Does the 3 time off and on with the key work on the 99's? Build date of 10/98.
Oil Burner is right 2000 model year trucks were the first to have the 3 key cycle code reader. You can borrow a scanner from any auto zone and check the codes in the parking lot.
The wierd thing I never understood, I had a 99 gasser, and the on/off/on/off/on worked on that truck, but that function did not work until 2000 on diesels.
