Guess it doesn't work on a late manufactured '02. I tried it and all it does is scroll thru the menu on the overhead display... :(

was having trouble with it not showing up on my 04. 5 600. the odometer miles has to be indicated, not your trip miles before you try to check your hours.

Gave it a whirl as you described. No Luck. Still just scrolls through all the options on overhead display. Guess they upgraded more than just the Cummins on the newer generation trucks... :)

I think they mean it is the trip odometer below the speedometer not the overhead console... ... . I will go check mine right now.

Yep, the one on the instrument cluster. .

21772/674= 32. 3MPH

Just gave it "Whirl # 2" as described above. I was looking in the wrong area. In spite of that... still the same results.

HOWEVER: In the process of fooling around, I pushed the button in and then turned on the key to the run position. Got the truck to do a "instrument check" as it ran thru all the lights on the panel and then initiated the guages. Kinda Cool... Oo.

I then did the "3 turn of the key trick" to get codes... if any.

Unfortunately I did... :( P-1687 PCU and P-1693 ECU

No Check Engine Light present... so am curious if I am looking at an problem that needs to be addressed immediately? Truck appears to be running as well as ever... .

Got it. Thanks fellows: 2672 hrs, 85969 miles = 32. 17 MPH. I do a lot of idling with mine, but when she is moving, it is usually 70mph

The reason I asked is that I want to check the hours on the engine at each oil change, just to give me an idea of how many hours I am getting per change.

Thanks again!

I had to go check too... 42840 miles at 1049 hrs 40. 83 mph and had to check engine codes finding two P0602 which I found is probably Smarty related and corrected with one of the new downloads but the other P0483 is cooling fan speed and it has me puzzled. The truck is running fine. I'll have to take a look in the morning.

53616 miles, 1304 hours = 41. 16 miles per hour. Guess that 15-20 minute warm up every morning really brought the numbers down. :-laf

I normally do not like bring up old posts...

but I have been waiting to get my new truck to post just in this thread that I read a couple of months ago...

150518 miles divided by 3458 hours = 43. 53 mi per hr

Actually saw 50,000 miles on ODO today going to lunch.

50010 miles, 1233 engine hours = 40. 56 MPHe

Mine took 7 second count and reads "hr 1233"

Driving is mostly freeway lately and mine showed average speed of 35. 6.

I live in the LA. area where freeway isnt what its supposed to be.

Too many people in too little space.
