I been reading too many post about bad lift pumps and have decided to test my pump pressure. Where is the best place to do a fuel pressure check. I'm going to order a pressure gauge from Summit along with a braided SS hose to test. I have what I believe is a test port at the filter housing but it looks to have a shrader fitting. If this is a test port what type of fitting do I use?

I have one question. Why cant a pump be installed along the frame rail to just take the place of the OEM pump? I read where some people are installing an additional pump just to supply the OEM pump. Are there not pumps on the market that can be plumbed away from the engine, like back towards the tank and still supply the fuel requirements of this engine/injection pump?

There is also a fuel pressure test port on the side of the Injector pump where the fuel supply line goes into it. That will give you a True fuel pressure reading as it will take into account pressure loss from your fuel filter.
