Chest Quest

Well once again I am turning to the TDR for help. I have web searched my fingers to the bone looking for a lockable tool or storage chest that will fit bellow my Lund tonneau cover (it has those hold down clamps that seem to get in the way). I’m just looking for a secure place to store my S#*T other than the cab. Any help would be GREAT!!

Recjr, I don't remember the breand name but one of my coffee buddies has one in his gasser ram. Fit inside the bed below the sides and holds a ton of stuff. Diamond plated, I'll try to remember to get the name off of it in the morning. Regards Pete

Recjr, well the smell of the coffee got the best of me and I forgot until my friends truck was pulling out of the parking lot so I have wrote myself a note and I'm putting it in the truck right now. Will post in the morning with the info!! Regards Pete

Protech - They have a shop in Vancouver Washington, and Nashville TN. They will make anything you really need. The price is not outrageous either. They are top of the line stuff. But they price as follows - Let say you want a toolbox they make but two inches shorter per side. Well they figure the extra labor is worth the less material = Same price. Really good people to work with. Just fax them a sketch and they'll give you a quote.

Recjr, the name on the chest was Leonard. They make truck toppers and such, I'm quite sure that the chest is made for them. Do you have a Lowe's or Home Depot up there? They sell tool boxes and chest type boxes. The weatherguard that sandman mentioned is top self probably one of the best in the nation, there should be a distibutor in your area. Regards Pete

check DeeZee, they have a variety of boxes for quite a few applications, I believe you will be impressed. I have their boards and love them. I continue to be impressed with the quality as well. It does help that I know someone that can get me a very good price on their stuff too #ad

I have a "Better Built" brand chest in my truck. Have had it for 3 years w/no complaints. It's Aluminum diamond plate and sits just below the lever of the bed rails.

Try one of the auto customizers in your area. I bought mine from an outfit called Auto Trim Design. I believe they are a national franchise, but I am not sure.

RecJr, I don`t know if you would like the look but I`m going with a standard above the rail deep toolbox and have the local auto upolstery shop cut the cover down to fit! They said they would do it for 50-60 bucks. I personaly like the look #ad
with the box and the cut down cover! Thats just me though. I thought about a below the rail type box but didn`t like the idea of unsnaping the cover every time I needed something out of the box.

I would really like the look but my cover is a rail mount style, and I haven't figured out how to handle the cab side cross bar. Guess I would have to get the old Hack saw out!

i am looking for a below the rails box to modify with wheel chocks and tie downs for hauling a couple of bikes (see my thread on the product forum). also any decent welding shops in the SF bay area would be appreciated.
