Chevy Tail Gate protector on Dodge

I looked at a lot of tail gate protectors and they all looked about the same, black or chrome, some kind of cheesy. I always liked the look of the Chevy truck protector and it is even got a areodynmanic lip to it.
So I bought one and used the Dremel tool on it to make a notch for the tail gate release handle to come up into. The scary part was drilling four holes into the outside of your new truck. It looks great and is a very solid item.

Doug Hofeldt, designer/builder of Air Bulldog induction hoods added the Chevy tailgate protector to his '98 Sport Ram. Looks pretty good... especially since he has a black Sport.

My Dodge RAM has a Chevy tailgate on it! One of those louvered 5th wheel tailgates for keeping the turbulence from building up in the bed while pulling the trailer. Just a little grinding to make it fit nicely. Had to build a latch plate too.

The Chevy tailgate added 50 HP, 80 Ft. Lbs. torque, 9 mpg and will out run every Duramax I've encountered.

Since I haven't encountered any Duramaxis on the road, you can evaluate the rest of the statement to your own liking!

I've got same louvered tailgate. Instead of selling it now, I'm interested in putting it on my real truck. Talk to me about the latch plate you had to make and the grinding you did.

I always did like the look of a Texas tailgate. That's the one with 6 bullet holes in it. My cousin's from Texas, he swears by the performance benefits, especially when it's in the process of being ventilated. #ad
