Government Investigating Reports of Tailgates Falling Off General Motors Pickups Without Warning



WASHINGTON (AP) -- The government is investigating reports that tailgates are falling off the back of General Motors Corp. pickup trucks without warning.



The investigation could potentially affect thousands of vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Monday said it is looking at the GMC Sierra from model years 1999-2002; the Chevrolet Silverado from model years 1999-2003; the 2002 Cadillac truck and the 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. Along with that, I heard that Furd is coming out with a brand new, state-of-the-art feature for their trucks this year!... ... . A heated rear bumper! Seems there are quite a bit of complaints about hands getting to cold pushing them on a regular basis!

Hope the supplier of those cables doesn't also make the ones that are on the current Rams! The problem is with water getting into the cable, inside the rubber coating, and corroding the steel.

Add some salt for the northerners this winter, and Dodge may be having the same problems! I'd rather have a good ol' fashioned chain with the garden-hose slipped over it to keep it from banging around.
