I started chewing Copenhagen again after 9 months without it:confused: a fellow worker wipped it out at work and we were having a rough day... ... ... next thing ya know I got a dip in :confused:

Does it raise your blood pressure ? I always was a little high , can't remember the numbers but was always borderline and the last 9 months was great... ... ... . am wondering if it was a mistake, it seams to me that a good dip has always calmed me down:confused:

Don't tell my wife I'm chewing:-{} she will put a pop knot on my head :{ :eek: :{

Chewing and dipping

The only problem I ever had was tooth decay from the sugar in the tobacco, I lived with it in my mouth. Had to start using ant- acid tablets after I quit chewing. They say it will cause oral cancer so that is something to consider. I wont say my wife didn't like it, it was worse than that. bg

hold in there ( if you really want to )

Chewing was one of the BAD things I learned in the Corps. Best bet, short of not dipping at all, is to keep it to a minimum. I chewed almost a can per day when I was younger, it caught up to me and I had to go to a Perodontist to fix what I did. There's no doubt that it raises your BP as well. If you don't want to look like Billy Bob, with summer teeth, better plan on brushing and flossing reguarly.

Lost a great co-worker due to that crap. He was 35yrs old and developed throat cancer. The Doctors carved away at him till he had no esophagus and about a quarter of his stomach left. He left behind 2 boys to his "run around" ex.

I know of others that tried to quit and can't!! It is sad... nothing against you guys that do it, but beware! Chris

Whitmore,

Quit again now, before you get hooked again! Also, any other guys out there who have quit, don't cave in and try to take "just one dip", no matter how bad a day you may be having.

After 25 years of dipping an absolute minimum of one can of Cope per day, and usually two/day on weekends, I have been clean now for three years. I know from experience however, that if I were to take just one dip, I would be hooked again - I've been there/done that. Around 10 years ago, I had quit, and been clean for around two years. One day I was at a gas station paying for some fuel when I noticed the snuff display on the counter. I was not craving a dip or anything, just on the spur of the moment decided to get a can to see if I still enjoyed it... well, I was instantly re-addicted for another 7 years or so.

I'd love to be able to take a dip occasionally, maybe a couple times per week, or be able to buy a can when I'm going to be on the lake bass fishing (man, I really miss it then), but, in my case anyway, it was all or none - never was able to do it in moderation, none of my buddies have been able to either.

Oral cancer is nasty stuff, my wife used to cut out every article she could find - I've read lots of horror stories. Probably 25% or so of the guys I went to high school with dipped, most still do. So far, although several have had gum disease/dental problem due to dip, but no one I know has had anything more serious. Guess we've been lucky.

I chew copey. Probably for about 15 years now. I quit once for 6 months, then started again.

My mom had her eye removed due to a tumor and then was cancer free for 5 years. She had scans done every 6 months since then. The last time, they found cancer in both lungs. Her or my dad never touched a cigarette in their lives, and live in the clean country air.

I tried to quit chewing cause of the cancer threat but I enjoy it and I guess it does not matter what you do or dont do to your body, someone else controls what happens. IMO, I'm gonna keep chewing, drinking, eating greasy fatty foods, and everything else thats bad for me cause I want to enjoy life and do what I like while I'm still young and dumb enough to do it.
