HI I'M looking to add amber marker lights to my running boards and front air dam, could anyone help with what i would need to run these, like what size wire and how to hook them up, probably need to run them through a toggle switch , because the headlight switch would not hold up . any advice would be appriceated,TIA Ian:D

i run 12 lights on my boards,,6 on each side,,with no headlight switch problems. i just tapped into the front side marker light on each dually fender.

you will probably need to use another power source with a toggle switch for the air dam lights because when i added my wing with 13 lights the switch got warm when i tapped into the clearance lights so now they are switched seperatly.

LED lights draw less current if you decide to go with them.

You could use a relay and trigger it with the headlight and or clearance switch. You would need to run a hot wire from the PDC or battery and fuse it, then the relay. bg

here is what I did on my sides. I used a 12 dot LED light for the sides and they are sealed and last a long time. I got these at a Pilot Truck stop but there are numerous designs out there and LED is the only way to go in my book

The same type of 12 dot LED for the center 3 lights on the tailgate

There are also 2--6 dot LED right next to the Stock Fog light on the inside vertically.

All the LED's are hooked to the power for the running lights with so problem.

Hi eric, thats what i want to do,use led lights, how many do you have down the sides, i counted 5 in your pic, i also want to run 6 of the big leds on the air dam. how many lights total do you run off the running light switch? TIA Ian. PS thanks eveeryone for your responses. :D Oo.

Hi all, I exchanged most my ID lights to LEDs. Don't have any pix with everything lit up. Before I'm done all Cab marker, running board, and side and rear markers will be LEDs. I've spent more than a few nights with a trailer on entrance ramps.

Ian,

I do have 5 on each side and 2 in the front that are the smaller one. . . 3 on the back as you see and on the shell I have, there are 6 smaller LED Lights..... All run off the running lights. LED's use 1/10th the power of a regular bulb and last 10,000 hrs. so thats how you can have more on a circuit.

I have had my LED's on for a couple of years now and no problems
