2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Chime Chimes for no apparent reason

Over the last week my alert (Door) chime has chimed (once) for no apparent reason. Then last night on my way home from the lake it started chiming like a railroad crossing. Luckily I was only a mile away from home. Turned off ignition, started again, no chime.



No idiot lights, 1/2 tank of fuel



ANy ideas?

I have had the same issue in my 2004. I posted on this site ans was told that it was a broken wire in the harness that comes out of the body and goes to the door. I opened my rear door and shook the harness, the problem went away. Prior to that I did occasionally get a chime and a door indication occasionally.

PCM misread, perhaps? If it does it again, maybe a bad wire. I've got a 98 right now that the chime turns on if you twist the light switch just right to illuminate the overhead dome... . ground issue from door switch, I think... . and it'll sometimes turn itself on for a sec. I can twist the dome light switch just right and it quits, but it's the old style twist for dome and pull for headlights... .
