I need help with a trailer brake problem

I installed a Gearvendors OD and noticed the bearings were made in China. They did not feel as smooth as the original Timkens in the output extension housing.

I wish I had changed them out.

I do not like Made in China but can't say that they are a real problem. Time will tell.

I did have a set of Made in China boat trailer bearings disintegrate. They still had grease from being packed the previous year.

bought a new axle for a trailer i built several years ago which had romanian bearings.

paked em before i put the trailer on the road and they looked ok. disintegrated in less than 400 miles.

keep in mind timken isnt perfect either. bearings went bad in transmission and transmission locked up-nv 3500- in 2000 jeep tj i had. it had less than 2000 miles on it.

dealers tech told me that they were replacing timken bearings left and right for a period of time.

also timpken contributed to some of the dana 44 problems in jeep grand cherokees.

 I have found very few things that were made in China that wernt crap. I try to avoid that stuff whenever possible.

Greased my Dexter bearings yesterday. If only I hadn't seen Russia stamped on them I would feel pretty comfortable with them. Next Time I'll plan on replacement.

Ya got slave labor that could'nt or should'nt be trusted putting the holes in doughnuts doing precision work... . nahh stay away from that crap. If they give you "plain wrap" tell them to keep it!

TIMKEN-FAG-TRW-FAFNIR we know them. . but still open the box and see that the good ol U. S. A. is on it! or maybe Germany

Muddy, Timken are often made in third world countrys, supposedly to U. S. standards... not always the case. The problem comes when you, the customer, cannot see what you are getting.

Chinese Bearings??? Avoid Like Plague!!!

Peersonally, I like SKF. Read a bearing catalog sometime, make me wonder how they get the balls so round!

I bought new a 1995 Sportsmaster made by Kit. The first time I repacked I found they were Chinese bearings, and they ran a little warm. Two years later one failed, I pulled all my wheels replaced the races and bearings with Timnken. The trailer pulled better and they ran much cooler. After cleaning the Chinese bearings I looked at them with a magnifying glass and found them all to be in poor condition. When I bought my new trailer (Holiday Rambler) the first thing I ask was about the wheel bearings, and was told they were US made. I'll see for sure next month.

I got back from a 200 mile trip from the farm last weekend and noticed oil on the wheel of the 4 wheeler trailer. I will probably have the bearings replace when I get a chance to take it to someone that work on them.
