First time posting on this site, have been lurking behind the bushes for over a year. So, here goes. It says in my owners manual that the dealership can turn on a "chirp" noise, similiar to what the alarm noise is, when I lock the doors on my truck. I do not have the alarm and went to the dealer to have this done. Of course they say it can't be done. Any one have any info on this? I havnt seen anything posted on this subject. Thanks

Welcome!!

I did the same thing I was on this site religiously

for over a year then I decided to spend the 35 smackers, and I can honestly say that's is the best money I have ever spent!! Not counting the first time I bought condoms!!:D :D LOL All kidding aside I would like to be the first person to say WELCOME aboard!! And for your question?... ... . I have no Idea how to disable the chirp, but I really would like to know also!!

Welcome - I've also been lurking in the shadows for some time.

My memory ain't what it used to be, but I *think* if you key on/off 4 times, leave the key in the on position on the last time, and hit the "lock" button on the remote, it will toggle between horn chirp with lock or no horn chirp. My truck is not here to verify :( ,so post your results.

a little horn toot

there are instructions for doing this in the owners manual. check it out and post back. i'll check my manual tomorrow and give directions. it gives a little toot on your horn. BTW, sounds ALOT better if you put Hadley bullies on the truck...

p. s. welcome aboard, best $35 i ever spent!!!

Turn the ignition on but don't start the engine-push and hold the unlock button for ten seconds-after ten seconds push the lock button while still pushing the unlock button- immediately release both buttons-the horn will chirp and your done! Do the same thing to turn the chirp off.

Thanks guys - I wasn't aware that the feature could be changed, but I'm sure glad you guys brought it up and told us all how to deal with it.

locks and chirps

guys, are you all talking about the same thing? the horn "toot" with the factory security alarm, i wouldn't classify as a "chirp". IF you add the EVSII alarm system to your keyless entry/oem security system, you add a siren. it "chirps" the siren twice when you remote lock, once when you unlock. i don't have it on this truck, but did on the dakota i traded off. i may still have the instructions for it around somewhere, but don't remember if the chirp feature could be turned off and on?

remote lock chirp

Hi Guys,

I have tried both suggestions on how to enable/disable this feature. Neither worked. I have tried a few times. I don' t have the alarm on my truck, could that be the difference? I have scoured my owners manual as well with no luck. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

horn toot

dsvarczkopf:

what year and trim level truck do you have? go to "user cp", click on profile, and type in the info on your truck, which will appear in your signature when you post. lots of us have the big service manual from dodge. 2nd to the tdr, best money i've spent since i bought the truck. anyway, someone can look it up for you.
