Signature series 5er hitch rail brackets

The wife and I are looking to purchase a new Camper and have narrowed down our choices to these three models:

2003 Left Over GulfStream Conquest 28fbhs

2004 Flagstaff8528bhss

Or a 2004 Cougar 301bhs

Any Input you all would have on these model would be much appriciated

Sit down with the wife, and make a list on a sheet of paper of the "gotta-have-its". Those things that you feel that you absolutely must have in an RV. Then compare side by side to each unit that you are considering. The one that comes the closest, is the winner. Do not rely on price to make your final decision. You will be much happier down the road... ... ... . Sarge

If you have kids consider bunk beds or if kids in future still consider bunk beds.

Not sure if models listed are 5th wheels or trailers but I recently bought my first 5th wheel and I can say I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A TRAILER. 5er tows soo much better.

Also the truck in your sig. is just like my 98. 5 I used to have and if you go 5er you will need to spring over trailer to get proper clearances from bed rails, and I am not positive about this although I have heard stories about low bridges on east coast and when sprung over on a 5er your total height will be approx 13' to 13. 5'

I pull a Layton 5er model 305 with bunks slide out etc and I love it

good luck

Robert

I have to say My head is spinning... Wood framed or Aluminum framed? Fiberglass side or Aluminum side. This is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.

I just purchased the RV.org Buyers guide, so I hope that will help with the decision. Reading all the forum out there is make me dizzy, and if one took all the advice to heart you would never buy ANY RV out there LOL

Daytripper: All of the models listed are Bunk houses, with the Cougar being a quad bunk TT, the other two are 5vrs.

Sarge: I am most concerned with construction first. I have a 23 year old Holiday Rambler that other than being old is in Perfect condition. I am more concerned with Longevity than options or price.

Go to http://www.nadaguides.com and see what each one is worth after its 1 year old. I always figured these figures gave an accurate picture of the value the pro's put on one manufacture vs another.

Just looking at your list, isnt the Gulf Stream a higher quality unit then the other 2?

I figured the gulf stream was a High-end unit, But I'm not sure I want a wood construction. I can get a Killer deal on the Gulfstream its 2003 left over, and I can get it for around $16000. he only thing I am worried about is Longevity. I currently have a 23 year old Holiday Rambler( aluminum framed) and other than being old looking, If is in great shape. I just want a unit that with proper care will give that kind of service.

may I suggest that you call or talk to Barry Millet [moderator on this forum]. . this is his business and he did me right !

If you look at the full-timers' very high end units, you'll be surprised how many are wood-framed.
