Choosing gear ratio

I'm about to trade my 01 with 5 speed 3. 55's and 33" tires for an 03. I've alway been a fan of 3. 55's vs 4. 10's because the 01 pulled so well (about 300/700 with a little help). I'm usually running 77-82 on the highway with a lot of long trips out west (I race the rockcrawling events). As it is, I'm often wishing I had another gear but that's just becasue i know how well it pulls in the lower rpm's.

I found a sweet deal from a motivated dealer on a 3500 srw sb with 6 speed and HO- but it has 4. 10's. I've already ordered the 35" all terrains to go on whatever I buy- looking at another truck with 3. 73's. Will the 4. 10's drive me nuts at the speeds I drive? will the mileage suffer from buzzing the engine or does it like it?

Looking for experienced feedback rather than generic "lower gears are better for towing". This truck is a third vehicle and won't leave the house unless there is something in the bed or the trailer is hooked up- towing 7k.
