I'm getting ready to swap my nuked Getrag for either an NV4500 conversion or a G360 rebuild... . While everything is apart I want to change the clutch too... Does anyone have any suggestions for a good, not so expensive clutch? ... . I can live with an OEM clutch but I was hoping to find something a little better if there isn't a big difference in price... My truck is mildly modified (16cm/tweaked pump).

Thanks, Rob

Rob,

I just put in the Southbend MU 0090 Con O. I got it off of Carl's group purchase site. The engagement is smoother and easier and it holds very well. I think the clutch was around $400-$500. I was moving at the time and I can't remember where I put the reciept. Excellent clutch. I would also put in the newer 5-speed if you are going to keep the truck. Smoother shifting.

Thanks Matt,

Have you done the NV4500 conversion? ... If so, where did you get your kit from and how happy are you with the conversion?

Rob

Rob,

I haven't done the conversion. My original transmission is still getting the job done. It's noisy, but it still works fine.

Ah yes, nothing that wiring in a stereo amplifier wouldn't fix. :D

Mine was pretty noisy too... Until recently it was working quite well... . Then it started jumping out of gear and becoming harder to shift... . Figured its time to start thinking about replacement.

Since my truck is a daily driver I can't afford the downtime while I wait to get the drive shaft shortened for the NV4500 conversion... I am hoping that I can find a drive shaft shop that is willing to send a pre-shortened one for exchange.
