Got my nice clean Ram out tonight first time in over a week as the truck was cleaned prior to the snow and salt, head to work at 10pm and to my suprise four of santa's deer standing in the road at 62 mph, missed three got one, looks like bumper is toast but as best I can tell in the dark everything else seems ok. Had to put the small doe out of her misery and get in truck and bump bump bump, either I flat spotted my brand new tires or bent a drive shaft . The anti locks did not pulse not sure if the front or rear locked but laid one nice black mark on the right side. Maybe I should have stayed home and not taken Ford's double time tonight. So caution to all WATCH FOR THE DEER they sure can ruin a good day for you.

Sorry to hear about the modification to your Ram. Being the bumper is toast maybe the replacement will be one of the big heavy duty ones with a brush gaurd built into it.

Got mine about two weeks ago. The grill gaurd helped, but there's a space where the cheesy chrome bumper is exposed and he really crunched it. I was traveling about 70 and tapped my brakes when he started out in front of me. When I knew I was gonna hit him I aimed dead center and punched it to the floor. Poor ol' deer, the last sound he heard was that turbo spooling up like an F-16 coming off the carrier deck. Come to think of it, I launched him like one too! Already got my insurance check and have already fixed the truck as good as new #ad

The worst of the story is I flat spoted two brand new michelin tires,it sort ot stood the tread up had to get out the grinder and grind the deformed treads away and rotate to the rear seems liveable now but for sure they will bump till the end. Happy New Year to all.

ramman... sorry to hear of your misfortune. I did the same thing with my last truck, a 98' 2500 gasser. The deer jumped of an embankment and right into the passenger side front, leaving behind $2400. 00 in damage. To top it off, the deer went ahead a took a S*** on the passenger side door. Talk about adding insult to injury !!! I just got a heavy duty brush guard for XMAS, but with the temps. we've been having and the fact that I don't have a gargage, less than a heated garage, that will fit my truck, it looks like the guard install will be put off 'till the spring thaw.

Danandme,

"the last sound he heard was that turbo spooling up like an F-16 coming off the carrier deck. "

That's a sound I would like to hear. But even more, I would like to see an Air Force jockey land an F-16 on a carrier deck.

Ramman,

Found the Brush Guard you need on your truck next time! #ad

Do you think this will help take care of the next "Christmas Deer"? #ad

Big Bob ,I am afraid that the guard would bend and still screw up the hood and fenders and where would you get a replacement part for the guard. It is a good looking unit but after working on a friends truck with a brush guard I don't think I would want one, simple maintenance is a major climb with one .

Ramman,

You're right, you will probably need a Ranch Hand replacement front bumper and guard. I just think the Bar II is a good looking brush guard. I've ordered one but not with the intentions of fighting off any deer.

Did you get your truck fixed yet?

you ever wonder why they call them "Brush Guards"... when you actually have to pry the deer carcas out between your hood and grille?... . or maybe they call em' that because you send the deer into the brush when your at max boost?! haha... happy new year. . and happy deer hunting!

Not Christmas but New Year's deer! I joined the club about 3:30am this morning. Doe jumped over the guard rail and I whacked her at about 60mph. I have been hauling my 6' brush hog for snow weight and had not removed it since the last storm. 7600lb of truck and 850lb of weight, was not pretty! Bumper took all the damage low. Not a scratch on the hood or grill. Just a little bit on the right fender where the bumper came up and hit it. Guess it is a good time to buy that Denver Off Road Bumper I have been drooling over.
