chrome door handles

Has anyone put chrome door handles on their truck? Im wanting to do this but cant find any insight to this. Ive seen the billet ones but I dont want to spend $600 bucks for a set. Is there any way to do this to the plastic handles on our trucks? Thanks in advance.

Truckaddons.com I believe is the place. Buddy of mine has them on his new silver 3500 and they look nice. Just keep in mind that the fronts are larger/smaller ? ( can't remember which ) than the rear when putting them on. Also don't forget about whether or not you need the passenger side with or without a key hole. They also sell headlight and tailight trim which is also very nice. Especially for plastic !!

The rears are about 3/4" shorter in length than the front and might be a bit thinner top to bottom.

I just got a JC Whitney flyer advertising some for our trucks and they have stainless steel ones also. Held on by 3M adhesive tape, I wonder how well that would work over time. Plastic can be a pain to use tape on.

The Putco door handles are the $500 to $600 for all four doors. Those handle are sweet!!!! I have seen them on a 1500 Ram (the owner of a custom truck shop) I've also seen the stainless steel one's held on buy 3M tape, those are crappy. I'm going for the Putco after I have my wife convinced.

What hold the Putco covers on? I would like to see the billet set up close, someone has a set on here and was supposed to post some pics but I haven't seen them. They are expensive but replace the entire handle with billet aluminum.

I have the billet aluminum handles on mine and the pics are in my reader's rigs, but I don't really have a close-up. I'll see if I can get some new ones up soon.

They have the door handles and tailgate handle. Comes out to about 125 bucks apiece if you buy all 5.

Jeff: Your truck looks awesome with those billet handles! The Alcoa's and the other stuff you did are also hot s**t. That's a lot of cabbage for handles but they sure look great. I was gonna do the Putco covers, but now I don't think they cut it after seing the real deal.

Nick: To each his own. Paint the ones on your truck and don't worry about what everyone else wants. I prefer aluminum.



KHogan: Thank you for the compliment. $625 for the door handles was cheap compared to what I dropped for the ghost flames.

400ALL: front doors with keyhole on both



401ALL: front doors with keyhole on driver's door only



402ALL: rear doors (they are smaller than front)

Jeff: I missed the ghost flames. Any chance of getting a pic that shows how they look? As a biker, I dig the ghost flames I've deen on some high-buck customs as well as what H-D has done in their paint shop program.



Thanks for the part numbers. Were those handles a PITA to install? I personally don't relish rummaging around inside the doors... . used to do it for a living at GM Dealerships in the early 80's and still have the scars to prove it, LOL!

I've tried and tried to get the flames to show up in a picture, but they won't. We used a paint that isn't commonly used for ghost flames. It is made from crushed glass and it is what's used by Lexus to give their white its pearl coat. They show up best at night under flouresent light. The original red looks orange and the flames come out bright red. I'll see iff I can get a shot then.



As for putting them in, I don't know. I had the painter door the doors when he put the truck back together. Removing the door panels is easy and the handles aren't hard to access. I do know that you have to use some parts of the original handle. The tailgate is the same way and I did that myself, and it wasn't bad. Took me about 10 minutes.
