Anybody out there know where I can get a CHROME Master Cyl. Cover for my '93? I have the Cummins kit already and the cover looks ugly compared to the rest of the compartment!

I've been looking as well. Saw one the other day on the internet that I was going to check out the deminsions on but darn if I can remember where I saw it at. I'll look tonight and if I find the info and if I do, I'll send on to you. Maybe someone else will answer before then and we will both know.

I want to get the heater hose kit as well as the inlet and valve cover kit but with the cost of the pump rebuild I just did, the chrome goodies will have to wait for a bit!

I thinks it's a lousy idea to cover up your master cyclinder. Instead, I'd paint it a flat color - master cycliders are purposly left rough cast iron so that any leaks or problems can be spotted easily (your master cylinder will look wet).

Just my $. 25

Unclebilly,
We're just talking about the top cover that covers the top of the cylinder. The body is as you described it, no change.

Billy Kidd,

Found the cover I was talking about. Looks like it is the right size but I'm not 100% sure. Says it fits 3 1/4" x 6". PN 70304 $12. 19

Carparts.com is the web site

Also show a chrome rear end cover for a Dana 70, PN 65348 $40. 75

Hope this helps

paccool: Thanks for the part #'s but I think the 3 1/4" X 6" cover is too small. I got one from Mr. Gasket(the only Chrysler one they carry)and it was too small. Mine measures about 3 1/2" X 6 1/2". I already have finned aluminum covers on both front and rear. They hold more fluid and cool better. (but not as expensive as Mag-tech. ) I've been told the Chrome ones hold heat. I have the chrome heater lines also but the intake flange is about $125. 00 and is the large one like on the 2nd Gen. models. I don't know if it will fit 1st Gen. models. Cummins also has a chrome Alt. bracket. FYI

Billy Kidd,

You may be right. I'll be able to tell you in a week or so - I ordered one yesterday along with a chrome cap for the power steering pump. They said it was the right one so if it doesn't fit, back it'll go! I'll let you know how it goes.

Sounds good to me, let me know when you get it. Also do you have the part # for the power steering cap? Where are you ordering this stuff from? Let me know! Thanks! BILLY

Update on the master cylinder cover. I waited for a month for carparts.com to finally ship it and when I got it it was the wrong size. The power steering cap cover was the right one so I kept it and sent the MC cover back. The PS cap is chrome plated plastic and snaps on to the existing cap.

Sorry to hear it's wrong size, probably the same one I saw by Mr. Gasket. HOWEVER, I found a resonable substitute. I polished out my cover that bolts over the indivigual valve covers(Cummins Chrome Kit) and then re-did the letters in red(that's another story)but then I polished the master cyl. cover and it came out looking like CHROME! It has been about a month since I polished it and it still looks great! Try It,You'll like it!

Billy Kidd,
Lets hear that "other" story about polishing out the valve covers! I have been thinking about getting new chrome covers but hate to spend the money.

After you polished the brake cover, did you coat with a clear coat or leave alone?

The other story is about polishing the cover plate... It's aluminum, so I polished it with a soft wheel and compound. (several hours work) Then I had to re-do the lettering. I ended up using a spongebrush to paint the letters but not get paint on the background. As for the actual valve covers, I bought the Cummins Chrome ones. After polishing the Master Cyn. cover with the soft wheel and compound I just left it bare. I'm sure it will "dull" in time but hasn't so far.
