I am looking for a set of chrome valve covers for my sons 92. I searched back in the forums and someone said they had got some from Scheids. I looked on thier website but they did not show any. Any ideas?Randy

You might try tdr member Olee Poole Here He did some real nice chrome work for me 1 1/2 or 2 years ago. I don't know if he is still into plating or not, but it was priced right and looks great.

Exactly what is the best way to "polish" these? What is the best way to get the old paint off, or do you use the wire wheel to do this?

use some paint stripper to get the paint off and then rough it up as needed, then start doin the elbow grease job with the mothers polish

Yes strip the paint and then start sanding with some wet paper in progression like 200, 600, 1000 etc. Polishing was done with red and white rouge compound. A buffing wheel will take away a lot of the old elbow grease ;)
