I may be able to get a deal on some wheels and tires, but they are chromed aluminum wheels. I've never had these, just polished. I've had very bad luck with chromed steel wheels, and I don't want to go through that again.

How do they hold up to road salt and winter conditions?

Is the finish durable, or will it need to be polished regularly to keep rust spots from forming?

Can the chrome itself rust, or does the steel behind it rust through the chrome on a steel wheel?

Nope

chrome does not rust. Chrome is a valuable alloy for hydraulic and food systems because it does not react unfavorably to water. I would stay away from chrome plated aluminum wheels. The plating does not hold reliably to aluminum. Been there, tried that. The plating peeled while mounting a tire.

Mine are chrome plated. No problems so far. I have had the truck for a year. Hello stands behind there chrome for 4 years against flacking. Atleast that is what discount tire co. told me.

I think I am going to pass on the wheels. I don't know if American Eagle warranties their chrome. I'm not willing to take the chance. Thanks guys.
